LIME & ME WERK BERLIN by Lilli Messina: platform for artistic research, applied systemic design, and the development of the STÜLP Principle as a conceptual model for transformation.

"As a child, I grew up with only one book: a cookbook that came as a gift with a set of cookware. Receiving my first fairy tale books at the age of seven was a revelation — it sparked a lifelong fascination with stories, images, and inner transformation. That early ignition led me to study visual communication and to dream of creating my own children's books. In 1996, I began writing about sustainability and healthy eating, long before the topic was mainstream. My breakthrough came with a series on aging and intergenerational conflict, now part of school curriculums in several countries. Over time, my work expanded — I’ve written or illustrated more than 50 children’s books, including Little Lilli, who dreams of strength, and Bitter Bad Paloma, who seeks belonging.

Today, my work is grounded in what I call the STÜLP Principle — a theory of transformation that emerged from lived experience, artistic research, and describes a deep structure of becoming: not as linear progress, but as inversion from within. Just like a seed cracks open to become a tree, my own creative path has often followed moments of rupture — rejections, losses, radical shifts — each one a Stülp, an inner reversal that unlocked a new dimension of work. This principle now informs not only my art and writing, but also my consulting and design: I support individuals and institutions in recognizing their flaws not as failures, but as fertile points of transformation.

I combine storytelling with systemic thinking to create authentic brand identities and resonant narratives. Whether for startups or global companies, my designs are guided by the belief that true connection arises not from perfection, but from shared vulnerability and potential. Good stories don’t just communicate — they invert — revealing the deeper truth behind the form."
